Looking to buy CRT Monitor

Wanted to try out a CRT monitor for CS. Any of you know a site or store I could go to? Places like Goodwill have them, but I don't know if I could trust buying one without knowledge of it's condition.

hell ya, wanted to try CS with a higher refresh rate. also, will i get better fps for my weak ass CPU? its a 2.2 single core amd. ive been running CS in 4:3 aspect ratio in 800x600 on my 23in monitor lcd, so i have black bars on the side. i want a higher, steady fps. was just curious.

I think I might have a spare lying around, (usually have odd parts, wires, and random stuff somewhere.) I will check and see between tomorrow afternoon and sometime this weekend, then get back to you. It's an old Dell CRT I think, but honestly, LCDs are fine for me, 60 to 75hz refresh rate? All good. I'm happy with my setup, even though the 32" is hard on the eyes. (too damn bright)

Yeah, I'll be free this weekend. Will have to be a daytime thing, probably in the afternoon.

No new ride yet. Public transit bum till the car's sold. Saving for a better one actually. Paid 800 for this one, aiming for something around 1500 at the next auto auction I get to.

I read your stats and I cringe, that must be one old computer. If you're happy with it the way it is now, then ehhh... but if you're looking for smoother performance, 100+ fps, etc etc. , a custom build isn't as expensive as you think. I paid more for my HDTV than I did for my entire system. I also found my old config last night from 2005-2006 from when I had my x700 and dell dimension 8600 desktop. (prebuilts... *barf*) that I think you will find extremely handy, both for utility and for performance. (No dissing the config, that took me a month and a half to get perfect.) It does things like if you press F you get a really big crosshair (for shotguns, p90s... large spread guns) and if you press it again, you get the small one for rifles, pistols, etc. Pressing H cycles through crosshair colors, pressing T brings up the bank menu through a console command, press control to toggle walk on or off, mouse3 (the wheel) for toggling semi automatic and automatic fire, Got buy stuff bound to the numpad and arrow keys, so three quick key presses get you full custom gear, that kind of thing.

Anyway, I'll hunt for it when I get home, I'm sure I have one lying around that's not being used. Typing this up from PCC downtown campus atm.


***** Update***** Nope, it's gone. I was sure I had two but I remembered I gave my mother the first one, it went out 8 months ago and she got the second one while I was out of my apt. Go figure.

Alternatively, there's a yahoo group, freecycle, awesome group, get some cool stuff off of there and offload your junk at the same time. Would encourage checking out there rather than craigslist because well, craigslist is flaky.
